Attention Users: Concerning Fanon

Nikolaitttt December 16, 2011

Hi there. Today we are going to discuss fanon, and where it belongs. Fanon is unofficial relationships, ideas, etc. about the show. There is a specific wiki for this, the South Park Fanon wiki. Anything non-canonical should go there. South Park Archives is reserved for factual information that can be proved from canon. Some degree of inference is allowed, for example, "Wendy Testaburger is seen with the popular girls, so she must be popular.", would be a good inference, however, something like, "Cartman and Kyle only act towards each other like that to hide the fact that they're in love.", is not a good inference, in fact, it is quite disturbing. Anything like that will not be tolerated here on South Park Archives, and repeated posting of such information will result in a ban. Have a nice day, SPA Users!

P.S. Cryptar has brought fanon images to my attention as well, they are fanon and will not be tolerated on the wiki. Being that some images are so well done they can fool users into thinking they're legitimate, please look over the image closely before posting. Repeated posting of fanon images will result in a ban.

  • Clarification on Fanon "couples": They won't be tolerated on SPA, except on user pages, and even then, if the words "shotacon", "lolicon", "yaoi", or "yuri", are seen, the user will receive two infraction points and have the content completely removed from their user page.

Clarification on Fanon names: No! No Fanon names! Never! It is better to be ambiguous than to use a fanon name. Renaming unnamed characters with fanon names will result in 3 infraction points for the user. Creating a page and using a fanon name will result in two infraction points for the user.

  • Yay, SPF Wiki got plugged.

    • JVM, I think you should make a blog post on here about the Fanon wiki. I think it will get you more visibility and will give users the opportunity to express their creative outlets on an appropriate medium.

    • What do you mean it got plugged?

  • I agree with what your saying; they should put them on their blogs, not on the actual wiki.

    • TOkun, we've agree'd that fanon on personal blogs and user pages is acceptable so long as the content isn't derogatory, insulting, or disturbing. Our main goal, however, is keep South Park Archives and it's sister wiki, South Park Fanon, as organized as possible. In short, there will be no fanon allowed on main wiki pages but it's fine within reason on personal blogs and user pages.

    • Oh. Okay.

  • Might I add that Fanon images, unless on user pages etc, are non-canon and therefore do not belong on this wiki? These images are usually created in South Park Studios and slapped on a Gallery page without a second thought.

    • I noticed those. But those are only on profiles, not on any actual pages, at least not the ones I've seen.

    • Yes those are fine but fairly recently I had a clean-up of several character gallery pages where I got rid of quite a ridiculous amount of fan images.

    • Oh. That had to be annoying. Maybe they should be taken off.

  • I agree and I think I should both add and respond to Godzillaisland7.2's comment by saying that the goal would be to keep the fanon off of the all of the pages. Blog posts I would say are fine so long as they're not derogatory, insulting, or disturbing. I think we can all be mature and use good judgement.

    • I agree. Toadstool posted something a few months back, asking people to transfer their blogs about episodes and game ideas to The Fanon Wiki. Though he said to do it because people were posting alot to those blogs, and it was hard to find mistakes that others have posted. Or things that they just posted for no apparent reason.

  • What about our own episode ideas?

Do they count as something like, "Cartman and Kyle only act towards each other like that to hide the fact that they're in love." to?

    • That is fanon because there is no proof that they are like that and only one who would like to see a pairing liek that would imply that about the conflict between the two

    • First; I hate that pairing. Second, that's what the blogs are for, right?
