Trivia[]

Un-aired pilot SPS

The notice on Southparkstudios.com saying the episode is no longer available.

  • Trey Parker's first name is misspelled in the intro twice, as "Tre" and "Trés".
  • Trey Parker and Matt Stone credits themselves as "Tupac Schwartz" and "M.C. Goldstein" respectively as episode's writers in the opening credits.
  • This is the only episode where the title sequence features the staff credits.
  • This episode gave the following characters their first appearance, along with several fifth graders, aliens and cows:
  • The episode was available for viewing on South Park Studios for a limited time, from mid-August to mid-September 2009. It is no longer available for viewing.
  • This and the aired version are the only full-length episodes to be animated by stop motion on construction paper.
  • Mary Kay Bergman did not voice any of the female characters in the episode. All of them were instead voiced by Karri Turner, in which their voices are deeper.
  • Eric Cartman suddenly has a sister and father in this episode. In the series, they were both removed because creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone decided that Cartman did not need a larger family.
  • Nurse Mcshwartz does not have a conjoined fetus in this version. This was her only appearance without it until her debut in "Conjoined Fetus Lady", renaming her Nurse Gollum.
  • A piano is heard as scenes change in the episode.

Differences Between "The Unaired Pilot" and "Cartman Gets an Anal Probe"[]

"The Unaired Pilot" most notably features scenes absent from the aired version. It also features some aesthetic differences:

  • The opening theme is different and slower.
  • Mary Kay Bergman did not voice any of the female characters.
  • Mr. Garrison's mouth is lower.
  • Mr. Hat's hat covers his eyes.
  • Cartman does not fart fire in class or at Pip.
  • The Romeo and Juliet song is extended when Stan lays eyes on Wendy.
  • Cartman's anal probe does not come out when he meets Chef.
  • Wendy gives her note to Stan in the playground instead of the cafeteria.
  • The news report about the aliens were not present in the unaired version.

The episode also has scenes that do not appear in the aired version:

  • Ike extends his response to Kyle from telling him to leave him, saying, "Ee gko zeeponanner."
  • Cartman says "Oh, dude." before he tells what he witnessed last night.
  • Instead of a crescendo, a bit of a suspenseful piano plays when Chef talks to the boys of the Visitors.
  • Stan compliments Kyle's kick before they enter the bus.
  • Kyle tells at Ike to go home again as Ms. Crabtree screams at him again.
  • Kyle tells Stan that he now realizes he is in big trouble.
  • Farmer Carl thinks that there is a government cover-up as he mentioned CIA helicopters and trucks.
  • Carl replies to the cows being missing before turning at Barbrady.
  • Mr. Garrison berates Kyle longer; Mr. Hat says no several times before forcing Kyle to sit back down. Garrison then notices that Mr. Hat is pissed off. Kyle then says, "Fuck Mr. Hat." Garrison replies, "No, no. Fuck you." And the students in the classroom reacts in shock.
  • The train gives a railroad warning instead of the famous guitar strung.
  • Pip asks the boys what is for lunch. Stan and Cartman go yell at him to leave as he tells the origin of his name. This scene is reused in "An Elephant Makes Love to a Pig".
  • Wendy does not speak to Stan through the lunch line.
  • Kyle gets mad at Cartman and Stan for talking about Wendy, outraged by them not caring about finding Ike.
  • Chef advises the boys to pretend to be sick. Kyle mentions that students are only excused from school if they have a fever. In response, Chef gives the boys "special extra-hot tamales" to raise their body temperature to leave school. And tells them that they might breathe fire as they leave to the playground.
  • Pip heads down a slide in recess and bashes his head into a swing set pole and started to crack. Kenny laughs at him when he sat on a swing.
  • The fifth graders force Cartman to eat his and his friends' tamales. Only afterward does he start to fart fire.
  • Cartman goes into the Nurse McGrath's office. She does not have "conjoined twin myslexia". She had past experiences of Stan and Kyle faking their illnesses a lot and thought Cartman was not ill. When she tried to take his temperature, Cartman thinks she turned to an alien. She changed her mind when Cartman farted out fire and excused them from school.
  • When the boys try to persuade Cartman of Kenny's death, the background music cuts off when Cartman says, "No!" In the televised version, the music continues to play until Kyle pulls off Kenny's head.
  • Kyle calls Stan a dildo when he leaves to go see Wendy.
  • Stan holds his vomit when he looked at Wendy.
  • Wendy's idea to save Ike is altered in the aired version.
  • A bit from the Peanuts theme plays when a bird swims in Stan's vomit.
Cartman's Original Family - The Unaired Pilot

Cartman's original family.

  • Cartman's mother is serving dinner to Cartman's father and sister. Suddenly, she says she forgotten the gravy instead of Cartman. Mr. Kitty hops on the table, alive and covered in ash from Cartman's fiery fart. When Comedy Central picked up South Park, Parker and Stone decided to remove them from the series because they claimed that Cartman did not need a large family.
  • Chef shows up with a false alarm from his car's headlights, making the kids think the aliens arrived.
  • Chef sings again to stop Kyle from crying from no chance at finding Ike and then yells at the sky with the boys. Cartman tries to stop them.
  • Instead of staying the see the aliens, Chef drives away, afraid.
  • While Kyle explains to the aliens why he wants Ike back, the background music is very similar the one from "I Remember When We Fell in Love".
  • Kyle does not mention David Caruso to entice Ike to jump off the Visitors' spaceship.
  • The ending is more different from the aired version:
    • Kenny is actually revived at the end of the episode. Kyle says to him, "You're looking pretty good, Kenny."
    • Officer Barbrady tries to persuade the boys that there were no Visitors the previous night and asks about where are the missing cows. Stan points at the Visitors. They all stand off on the side with a barbecue grill, surrounded by dead, mutilated cattle. They apparently never intended to give the cows mind control. But Barbrady mentioned that the Visitors did not know where did the cattle were, he did obliviously oversaw the dead cattle surrounding them.
    • Cartman does not have pinkeye when he returns from space.
    • Kyle tells Ike again that he cannot come to school with him. He then eventually kicks him, accidentally shattering a window from Cartman's house. Ms. Cartman peeks out the window and wondered who has kicked Ike.
    • The episode then ends with Pip, without a cracked head, facing the camera saying, "God bless us, everyone." (a reference to Tiny Tim) Cartman states that after he heals from his fall, he will then beat him up.
  • The ending credits don't use the original and colorful South Park font.
  • The closing credits ended with a Braniff Airlines bumper showing a black-and-white clip of six men dancing with their pants off, from the 1999 short film Le Petit Package. A black bar obscures their privates as they sing the company's name. That short was also developed by Matt Stone and Trey Parker at the same time of this episode's development.
  • A sound clip of Cartman's fart plays after the Comedy Central logo bumper, and then yells.

Goofs[]

  • Cartman's double chin missing

    His double chin is missing.

In the theme song, in Cartman's part, his double chin is missing.
  • Right after the theme song, the boys are seen in a field full of snow. When the camera pans go Kyle getting angry with Ike. The road appears right next to them.
  • Before Chef greets the boys at the bus stop. His toque sticks out of the roof of his car, which happens twice. This also happens with Barbrady.
  • Bebe and Red are sitting in the front seat of the bus. However, when the boys all get on, they are not shown until Ms. Crabtree yells at Kyle.
  • Throughout the entire bus scene, Bebe and Red are seen without mouths.
  • The apple on Mr. Garrison's desk somehow changes its position for a brief second.
  • After the 'commercial break' the cows appear to be in a long line. When the camera pans to the train engineer. The cows are in 4 line groups. Also, none of the cows in the long line have udders.
  • When the boys order their food, the "Chef" label on Chef's apron changes cases from being "chef" as they approach the bench. And then "CHEF" when the boys are directly at the table. And also the "Chef" label changes from uppercase to lowercase when he gets angry for being at school when Ike is missing. The last part shows Chef in front of the bench and the label is in uppercase.
  • When Chef throws the tray away in shock. The boys are shown looking at a different wall and Chef approaching them from that side. And addition to that. The chalkboard food menu behind the boys disappears as well.
  • When the kids greet Chef, only Stan can be heard, but Kyle and Cartman move their mouths too.
  • Stan throws up when Wendy hands him a note. When the camera zooms in to just Stan and Kyle, the throw up under Stan disappears. This happens a second time when Stan meets Wendy at Stark's Pond.
  • Pip cuts his head open hitting his head on the swingset and starts bleeding heavily. But for some reason, when the camera pans to the Nurse's office. He "re-bleeds" (Meaning the same blood that withdrew in the playground withdrew in the office.)
  • After the 'commercial break'. There are only three town buildings behind the South Park sign and no road. This happens twice.
  • For some reason, Stan has the ability to turn his head 180° degrees.
  • This may have been intentional, or mistake. But the UFO that ends up taking Cartman to extract the device up Cartman's ass, actually comes from under the ground and not the sky. This could either be the result of the field being a cliff.
  • When Kyle tells the aliens to go to him, his voice appears to be Stan's voice.
  • When Stan told Chef about the teacher not letting them out of school, his voice appears to be Kyle's voice.
  • Kevin Stoley's mouth was uncolored during the classroom scene.
