• Randy Marsh works at the U.S.Geological Survey Colorado division.
• Kenny only appears at the beginning and in the crowd at the end of the episode.
• Eric Cartman or Erica now, claims to be "transginger" and can use the girls bathroom. In the episode "201", it revealed Cartman is half ginger and half Denver Bronco from his father Jack Tenorman.
• This episode was originally titled "Cartman's Bathroom".
• It is noted in this episode that Randy is 45 years of age.

• This episode may have been inspired by a real case of Colorado first grade student Coy Mathis.
• Cisgender - An individual who mentally identifies and behaves according to his or her natural born gender.
• Transgender - An individual who mentally identifies as the opposite gender of which he or she was born naturally.
• Transvestism - An individual who feels comfortable and is compelled to dress in the opposite gender's clothes.

• It is proven Randy moonlights as New Zealand teen pop singer Lorde and writes all of her songs.
• The jabs at Spin magazine are based on an article the magazine's website published regarding the show's concluding joke in "Gluten Free Ebola". Spin later posted a response to this episode and the controversy surrounding their previous article.
• In Shelly's room, there is a poster for the animated film Frozen as well as a poster for the Marvel Studios film Uniters of the Universe, a reference to Guardians of the Galaxy.
• While dressed as a woman at work, Randy is seen wearing a Cramps t-shirt. They were a punk rock band of the 1980's that played around with traditional gender roles and wrote kitschy 1950's inspired rockabilly songs.
• According to Lorde's Twitter, Sia was singing on the laptop computer as her voice when Randy proves to Stan that he is Lorde..
• A new character seen in the girl's bathroom resembles that of Sia.
• Brandon Carlile's decision to delete the article revealing Lorde's identity as Randy is similar to Ben Urich deleting his article revealing Daredevil to be Matt Murdock in the film Daredevil.

Continuity

• This episode continues the serialized format of season 18.
• The race car from the episode "Pinewood Derby" can be seen on Randy's work table.
• Butters has been allowed to return to school after burning down the gymnasium.
  • The Gymnasium still has damage caused by the fire. 
• This episode references "Gluten Free Ebola", first as Randy continuing to dress as Lorde (having done so at a party) and second when Randy drinks a Gluten Free Pabst Blue Ribbon.
• Randy's soiled shorts as well as the backing track to "Push (Feeling Good on a Wednesday) reveal he is still loyal to Tween Wave music, discussed in "You're Getting Old".
• "Cissy" becomes a derogatory term for a cisgender person who does not accept transgenders. This is similar to how "nigger-guy" became, in "With Apologies to Jesse Jackson", a derogatory term for white people who use the N-word.
• "Lorde" 's lyrics contain the phrase "hot hot hot", which Randy uttered in pain while producing both his massive turds in "More Crap".
• The third restroom is seen in later episodes such as "The Magic Bush".

Goofs

• The reporter states that the party that the boys held was in Kyle's backyard, it was actually held in Cartman's backyard.
• The Cissy bathroom is not seen again, although it could've been turned back into the janitor's closet since everybody became comfortable with using the other bathrooms (resulting in a lack of use), and Randy later on stopped being Lorde.
• Despite the new rule that the children can enter either bathroom, the girls are never seen entering the boys bathroom once.
