[edit] Synopsis
Aunt Flo comes to stay, but her goldfish she bought for Stan turns out to be evil.
[edit] Plot
At the Marsh house, Aunt Flo comes to stay for her monthly visit. She gives Shelley a huge stereo system, and gives Stan an unusual goldfish.
At the bus stop, Stan, Kyle and Kenny are discussing the pumpkin carving contest and how they should enter. They realize Cartman is not at school again and wonder what is going on.
After school, Cartman shows up, but he has a beard. He tells the others that he couldn't come to school since he was looking after his mom because she was ill. He asks if any homework was assigned. The boys are shocked and confused and tell him about the pumpkin carving contest and Cartman offers to get money so they can buy a pumpkin.
Later on, Cartman shows up but without the beard. The boys ask him where the money is and he is confused and tells them that he would never give them money. He then enforces his new catchphrase "Hella".
At Stan's house, the boys begin to cut up a squash Kenny bought, Cartman comes in but with his beard again. He explains they should use Kenny's squash and shows Kenny how to cut in a way he won't hurt himself. He then breaks into song.
In the night, Stan puts a shirt over the goldfish bowl to hide the threatening messages appearing on it. The fish then seems to move closer and closer. Stan screams waking his family.
Later, Stan finds a dead body on the floor and Stan screams. Sharon comes in and buries the body in the garden believing it was Stan who did it.
After many more deaths Officer Barbrady asks if Sharon Marsh knows anything about it. After he looks around she takes him captive in the basement for fear of him taking Stan away.
Cartman shows up at the bus stop and the boys tell him he can't be there - since the bearded Cartman is also there. Cartman gets wound up on wonders what has happened.
The boys then try to take the goldfish back to the pet store after it kills Kenny and Aunt Flo, and they find a gateway to a parallel world where the evil pets and bearded Cartman have come from in the pet store.
The boys leave the fish and go to pumpkin carving contest where they win. Suddenly a bearded Stan and Kyle show up and have released all the pets. Cartman has explained about his annoying counterpart and have gone looking for him. Normal Stan and Kyle get the transportation to the parallel world device off their counterparts and send them back. They then decide to send normal Cartman back since he's horrible. He then rips the beard off the other Cartman and the boys are confused. One of the Cartman says they'll both have to be destroyed, realizing he is the nicer Cartman they send the normal Cartman back as he shouts "Screw you guys!".
Nice Cartman asks how they knew it was him, they say that normal Cartman would never say that, he then reveals himself to be normal Cartman and tells the boys they're "hella stupid".
Randy frees Barbrady who begins to try and stop the pets, to which Sharon realizes it was Stan's goldfish doing the killings.
[edit] Trivia
- The entire episode was shown in "Spooky-Vision", with every frame having the words written round the edge of the screen and pictures of Barbara Streisand in the four corners. Streisand originally appeared in Mecha-Streisand. The episode has been reaired a few times without "Spooky-Vision".
- Bebe uses the word "hella" in Bebe's Boobs Destroy Society.
- The bearded Stan, Kyle, and Cartman from the parallel universe are an obvious reference to the Star Trek episode "Mirror, Mirror", where the mirror universe Spock wore a beard. Many shows have used "Mirror, Mirror" as a reference for "evil universe" story lines.
- Several scenes in whch the normal Cartman and the parallel-universe Cartman appear together are split down the middle by an obvious seam, a reference to the film "double exposure" special effect by which the same actor can appear to be next to himself..
- The once a month, and five days, and being a bitch while aunt flo is there is a reference to a woman's period.
- The plot, involving evil animals from a portal existing as the result if building an establishment over an Indian burial ground, mixes references to the films Poltergeist and Pet Cemetery.
- One transition between scenes in the third act features Barbara Streisand's head quickly zooming toward the screen as a sound effect from Super Friends is played.
- Stan's treehuse from the episode Clubhouses is seen when barbrady was smashed by spade.
- After allien arrived to SP, he was run over by school bus. This joke was also parodied in Starvin Marvin In Space and in Goobacks.
[edit] Goofs
- In the "Terrance and Phillip Halloween Special" when Phillip farts, Terrance says "That fart was absolutely ghoulish, Terrance." when he should have said "That fart was absolutely ghoulish, Phillip.".
