Season Three began on April 7, 1999. It contained seventeen episodes where the first half aired during spring and early summer and the second half airing in fall and winter. It ended on January 12, 2000.
During this season, the first and only South Park film, South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut, was released. It was featured in theaters on June 30, 1999 and later released on home video on November 23, 1999.
Mary Kay Bergman, who provided the voice for most of the female characters passed away just prior to the airing of "The Red Badge of Gayness".
