  • The title of this episode is the name of a sex position, in which intercourse is performed with the inserting partner sitting or laying down and the straddling partner on top, but facing away from their partner's face. The title is referring to how people sit on the toilet regularly, which according to the episode, is the opposite way intended.
  • Betsy Donovan is voiced by Trey Parker in this episode due to last minute script changes. She was formerly voiced by April Stewart.[1]
  • The term "sue-ance" is a play on the words "sue" and "séance", a ritual performed to talk to spirits.
  • Cartman was watching "Terrance and Phillip in Not Without My Anus" when the TSA agents came to his house.
  • The lawyer subplot equates lawyers to being similar to psychics that take money from gullible people.
  • Clyde Donovan is reading a Mint-Berry Crunch comic book while Eric Cartman talks to him.
  • The framed picture in Clyde's restroom is the same one that was on the shirt Gerald Broflovski was wearing in "Mr. Garrison's Fancy New Vagina".
  • The bathroom of the Donovan Residence has changed significantly since being last shown in "Lice Capades".

References to Popular Culture

  • Signs - The scenario where Betsy is stuck on the toilet and forcibly removing her would kill her is similar to a dilemma seen in the film Signs where Grahan's wife is stuck between a tree and a car in a way that moving the car would be fatal to her.
  • Wikipedia - While the lawyer is researching John Harrington he uses a site called Wickie, a parody of the online encyclopedia Wikipedia.
  • Casper - In the courtroom, when Betsy Donovan appears before Clyde as a Ghost, is parodied from the film Casper when Kat's deceased mother, Amelia appears before Casper.[2]

Goofs

  • In the original broadcast, the lawyer first read John Harington's name as "Thomas".
  • The lawyer also reads that Harington died in 1692. However, he died in 1612.[3]
  • On Wickie, John Harington's name is spelled Harrington.[3]
  • In this episode, Butters interprets the word 'vagina' as 'Virginia'; whereas in "Erection Day" he knows the word 'vagina'.
  • In future episodes, no one is seen facing the toilet the other way.
