This page contains trivia for "Lice Capades". Remember, trivia must be factual, provable, and it is always best to cite your source for not-so-obvious trivia. If you would like to dispute a trivia point, please discuss it in the talk page.

Trivia

  • Since Travis was taken by a house fly off of Clyde's head, it can be assumed that the surviving lice were taken as well, and Clyde no longer has any lice.
  • Craig's hair is revealed to be black. It was black in "South Park is Gay!" but changed to brown in "The Losing Edge". Here, it reverts. His hair has appeared black in most subsequent appearances.
  • During the scene where the Crab-like lice get Travis, he is seen walking. He couldn't be walking, even with help, because both of his knees were shot by the Vice-President. However, he may have healed from his wounds quickly somehow.
  • The Vice-President louse appears to be wielding a Glock 17 pistol.
  • When Travis is first searching for survivors, a melting louse grabs him and begs for help; this is a reference to the 1987 film Robocop, where a thug is covered in toxic waste and grabs another character and screams when he starts to melt.
  • The lice refer to the hair as "trees".
  • Kenny's voice is heard unmuffled in this episode; when he is given the sock-bath, he is stripped to his underwear and he can be heard shouting "Nooo! No, not the socks!" His face is still not seen, though when Butters shifts positions, we can see part of his eye.
  • At the doctor's office, Clyde's mom is seen reading a magazine with Paris Hilton on it.
  • Two people who look like Bill Allen and Jason were seen in the 5th Grade line.
  • Kenny's hair is a darker shade of blonde in this episode rather than its normal color.

References to Popular Culture

  • The title of the episode is a play on the traveling show, Ice Capades.
  • Kenny's blood popping is a reference to the blood test performed in the 1982 movie, The Thing.
  • The lice climb the hairs to avoid the green goo, just as the passengers climb the rails to avoid the sea in the 1997 film, Titanic. Similarly, some also fail to hold on and fall in the same manner as Kelly.
  • When one of the lice went to check on the green stuff which melted his hands, he is then standing in it and begins to melt away. This is a reference to Tommy Lee Jones 1997 film, Volcano, where a rescue worker is carrying a man through the lava and throws the man to the other rescuers as he melts in the lava.
  • Kenny screams "No, not the socks! NOT THE SOCKS!" during the sock bath. In a deleted scene on the DVD version of the 2006 film The Wicker Man, Nicholas Cage yells "No, not the bees! NOT THE BEES!" when bees are funneled into his face during torture (although this could be just a coincidence).
  • When Travis is saved at the end by the fly, it is similar to the scene in The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King when Frodo and Sam are saved by the Eagles from Mount Doom.
  • In the episode, Travis tries to warn his people that their world is doomed, but is rejected, and he had only his wife and new born daughter to turn to. This concept is very reminiscent of Superman's origin, where Superman's father Jor-El, tries to warn Krypton of its imminent destruction, and he had only his wife Lara and his new born child, Kal-El to turn to. Travis's hair style is also reminiscent of Superman's iconic hair.
  • When the boys first attack Kenny with the bars of soap and socks, it is a reference to the movie Full Metal Jacket where they use similar tools to beat a character.
  • The music playing as Travis is carried away by the fly is "Pie Jesu" from Gabriel Fauré's Requiem.

Continuity

  • This is the first time where Kenny is heard speaking unmuffled since "The Jeffersons".
