Trivia

  • Here Jimmy is shown with the name 'Jimmy Swanson' but in future episodes he is Jimmy Valmer. This may be to avoid confusion with the Family Guy character, Joe Swanson who is also disabled. Additionally, in "Tsst" Jimmy asks Cartman his last name, likely referencing the perhaps confusing name change.
  • At the end of the episode when the Crips and Bloods are in the Rec Center playing basketball, the clock reads 4:20 and a gang member tells Timmy to try some chronic.
  • While in City Wok, Tuong Lu Kim messes up the order, giving a small iced tea instead of a regular lemonade. When Jimmy points this out, Kim empties out the cup of iced tea and fills it with lemonade. He doesn't grab a normal sized cup.
  • The behavior of Reeves and Hackman are flip of the rivalry between their characters Superman and Lex Luthor, with Reeves playing the villain role, and Hackman playing the heroic one.
  • In "Cripple Fight", Timmy and Jimmy stay enemies for most of the episode. However, they are shown to be really good friends in this episode, which should mean they completely solved their differences and grew to like each other.

DVD Commentary

  • According to the DVD commentaries, creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker had been developing the idea of a Christopher Reeve parody for several years, but were deterred from doing so due to its potentially contentious nature. However, they eventually decided to go through with it after seeing his appearance on Larry King Live, in which he espoused what they perceived to be an unwarranted sense of self-entitlement, especially in relation to those people who had been born with disabilities. They also thought it would be okay to do as long as a character pointed out that it was totally wrong.
  • Also on according to the DVD commentaries, Matt Stone and Trey Parker had to go out to find other African American men to voice the Crips and Bloods, since they had limited African American voice acting talent on hand (Adrien Beard, Vernon Chatman and Isaac Hayes).
