- There is a drawing of what appears to be Osama bin Laden on the wall in Funnybot's office. Osama was killed by the United States Navy SEALS two days before this episode aired.
- This is the second time Wendy Testaburger is seen without her pink beret since "Chef Goes Nanners".
- Kenny is nearly killed by Jay Leno. Jay Leno kills Kenny by accident with a stone statue in "Jay Leno Short".

- In the Star Trek: The Original Series episode,"The Changeling", Nomad was a malicious robot, which had mannerisms similar to FunnyBot. Most notable, is Nomad's famous phrase "non sequitur", which is repeated often by FunnyBot.
- Kyle's idea of using a paradox to disable Funnybot is based on a tactic famously used in the Star Trek I, Mudd.
- Doctor Who - Funnybot has the body of a Dalek and uses the word "Exterminate!" (Nomad used the word "Sterilize!")
- Star Wars - Funnybot accessing the mainframe to activate the nuclear missiles. (R2-D2)
- Eddie Murphy - Funnybot's role in "Family Funbot" as the entire family cast is similar to Eddie Murphy in The Nutty Professor where he was the entire Klump family.
- Tyler Perry - The fact that Token and Barack Obama can't help laughing at Tyler Perry movies is a reference that his movies contain too much African American humor.
- Charlie Sheen - On the wall outside of Funnybot's room, there is a poster showingTwo and a Half Men with the text "One and a Half Men" since Charlie Sheen was sacked off the series.
- Hawaii 5-0/Reno 911 - Poster of Hawaii 911. One is a police drama in the 1970s the later is a parody of COPS and reality based television.
- Funnybot's head also resembles Comedy Central's old logo.
- Funnybot's plot to destroy human is similar to the "Judgment Day" by Skynet from the Terminator franchise.
- Barack Obama's speech concerning Tyler Perry is based on his speech regarding the death of Osama bin Laden, both culminating in the sentence "Justice has been done."
- In a recent poll (July 2011) Germany was actually voted the least funny country.
- Murdering or slaying an audience is show business slang for successfully entertaining an audience. To Funnybot, it was literal.

- German Minister of Finance Wolfgang Schäuble has been paralyzed and has used a wheelchair ever since the assassination attempt on him in 1990, yet he is seen standing behind President Wulff in several scenes.
