The Snuke "The Snuke/Trivia" "Fantastic Easter Special/Trivia" "D-Yikes!/Trivia" D-Yikes!

This page contains trivia for "Fantastic Easter Special". Remember, trivia must be factual, provable, and it is always best to cite your source for not-so-obvious trivia. If you would like to dispute a trivia point, please discuss it in the talk page.

Trivia

  • This was the first ever Easter special of South Park. Easter was previously mentioned in "Quintuplets 2000", however.
  • When Jesus throws a star-shaped weapon to kill the Pope's assistant Bill, it is a reference to a similar event in the 1992 short The Spirit of Christmas in which Jesus throws his halo at Frosty the Snowman in the same manner. Kenny also threw a star-shaped weapon at Butters in Good Times with Weapons.
  • Kyle's painting features the Star of David.
  • Kenny is not present in this episode.
  • This is the first episode of Season Eleven to not feature Cartman prominently.
  • It seems that Cartman didn't know that the Easter Bunny in the mall was just a man in a costume, showing that he still believes in the Easter Bunny.
  • Mister Teabag's widescreen television is a "CONY" - "cony" is another word for a rabbit, although it is likely "CONY" was merely a parody of Sony.

References to Popular Culture

  • The entire episode heavily parodies the 2003 novel The Da Vinci Code.
  • The scene where Stan finds his dad dressed like a bunny is a parody of a similar scene from 1985 film Teen Wolf.
  • The scene where Jesus is throwing the glaive and puts on his sunglasses are references to the movies Blade and Krull.
  • When members of the Hare Club for Men brought the Rabbit Snowball out, they sang in Latin an Ode to Snowball to the tune of "Here Comes Peter Cottontail".
  • At the end of the episode, white smoke is seen coming from the chimney of the Vatican. This occurs after they elect a new pope.

Continuity

  • This episode has the first appearance of Jesus since "Red Sleigh Down". Jesus' death in the episode is mentioned.
  • When Jesus orders Kyle to kill him, Kyle says he has a complex of killing Jesus. This is a reference to "The Passion of the Jew" and the fact that Cartman has been abusing him for being Jewish all his life.
  • A Cyborg Bill doll is on Stan's dresser.

Goofs

  • This episode claims that St. Peter was a rabbit. However, Peter was seen in human form at the gates of heaven in "Best Friends Forever".
  • After presenting the rabbit to the Vatican, Stan and Kyle get handcuffed. Later, when Bill betrays the Pope and "steps up to the position", Kyle and Stan are seen with their hands free. In the shot immediately after, their handcuffs have returned.
