[edit] Synopsis
When the school bus becomes trapped on the edge of a cliff, Ms. Crabtree must leave to get help.
She meets a truck driver who takes her to the nearest town where she unwillingly ends up as a stand-up comedy act.
Meanwhile, back on the bus, all is not well. A big black monster is slowly harvesting the kids (i.e. Kenny) while the boys have flashbacks on previous events in their lives, they are however all incorrect and have a recurring theme of ice cream.
Ms. Crabtree has now found love with the truck driver and has completely forgotten about the kids.
Eventually, the bus goes over and ends up in a giant ice cream. Cartman suddenly wakes up and realizes it was all a dream. His mom comes to his aid and she reassures him. They then eat a meal of beetles. Stan suddenly wakes up and realizes everything so far was in fact his dream. He rings Kyle up and explains what happened.
Back in the fantasy, Ms. Crabtree says to her new found love she wishes she could stay in the dream forever.

[edit] Trivia
- "City on the Edge of Forever" is the name of a Star Trek episode. One of the kids on the school bus (the first victim of the monster) was wearing a Starfleet badge, and a red shirt. On Star Trek, characters in red shirts (referred to as 'redshirts') are often killed when a situation needs to seem dangerous.
- In one flashback, where the Fonz jumps several buses with his motorcycle, Cartman recalls Kenny dying, however, Stan and Kyle object stating that Kenny couldn't have died then, because he just got eaten by the monster( a reference possibly by the creators about using Kenny dying as a running gag .
- When all of the adults are out hanging up posters with pictures of their missing children, a poster with Macaulay Culkin can be seen among the lost children.

[edit] Hidden Visitor(s)
Though there aren't any hidden visitors in this episode, they are seen getting ice cream.
[edit] Goofs
- Clips of the exterior of the shaking bus were often reused when the bus shook. So, after Kenny died in the episode, Kenny is mysteriously seen through the window.
[edit] Censorship
- When this episode airs on syndication networks, when Ms. Crabtree told Marcus to suck her ass, the word: ass was completely censored, due to that it was offensive.
